Job Description
Purpose of the role:
The goal of the business intelligence analyst is to gather and analyze data from various sources to assist businesses in making informed decisions. They use tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and data insights, which they then present to major stakeholders. The primary aim of a business intelligence analyst is to improve organizational outcomes by providing valuable insights to inform strategic and operational decisions.
The Deal Breakers (minimum requirements):
Experience and Training:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a business intelligence analyst role.
- Experience in working directly with Data teams (Including Data engineers, Data Analysts) and good exposure to various business functions.
- Well-versed in SQL,(Queries, Data Structures, Tables, View’s, Stored procedures etc.)
- Prior experience in a development role in PowerBI / SQL (Preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and uncompromising quality.
- Solid understanding of Business Intelligence principles, processes and techniques.
Specific knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
- Prior industry experience in Financial services and/or Data analytics environment would be advantageous.
- Good grasp of the data and analytics landscape.
- Good understanding of how SLDC operates in a Data driven environment.
- General knowledge of the DMBOK framework would be beneficial.
Business understanding:
- Good awareness of various functional areas within a business like: Sales | Marketing | Finance | HR | Logistics | Operations.
- A sound understanding of how card transactions and the online payment industry function.
- An excellent understanding of the product management domain.
What does the role warrant? (Areas of Responsibility):
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Gather and examine data from various sources such as sales, marketing, finance, and customer feedback.
- Use different tools and techniques to analyze the data and discover patterns, trends, and insights.
Reporting and Visualisation:
- Prepare reports and dashboards summarizing their findings in a way that's easy for stakeholders to comprehend after analyzing.
- Use data visualization techniques like charts, graphs, and infographics to present their findings.
Business Strategy and Planning:
- Help the organization make informed decisions about their business strategies and planning.
- Provide insights into market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscape to help companies devise effective strategies.
Performance Monitoring:
- Track and monitor key performance metrics such as revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Use this data to identify areas for improvement and recommend ways to enhance business performance.
Data Quality Management:
- Ensure the data used is accurate, consistent, and reliable.
- Work with stakeholders to set data quality standards, and develop processes to guarantee proper data collection and storage.
Qualifications
- BSc Computer Science / BCom / IT related Degree.
- A Microsoft Certificate in PowerBI is required
