Job Title: CDS Trainee - MHMC Data Quality

Responsibilities

As a CDS Trainee, your main role involves conducting clinically-based, concurrent, and retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records at Montclair Hospital Medical Center. This is to ensure the documentation accurately reflects the quality of care and compliance with reimbursement requirements. You will collaborate closely with medical staff to enhance the quality of clinical documentation of patient care. Additional responsibilities include reviewing documentation for inpatient admission criteria and continuously documenting findings and reviews during patient stay.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Training:

• Must be a Medical Graduate, PA, or Nursing Graduate.
• A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting is a must.
• Deep knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents.
• Understanding of age-specific needs and various disease processes and procedures.
• Excellent skills in communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal relationships.
• Experience with inpatient admission criteria.
• Independence in a time-sensitive environment and familiarity with office equipment and systems.
• Assertive traits to maintain effective ongoing communications with physicians.
• Preferred: Knowledge of Medicare reimbursement systems and coding structures.
