Job Description

Role: Claims Data Governance Specialist

The Data Steward role is pivotal in guiding and supporting stakeholders to enhance their data literacy and advocating the adoption of best practices in data management. This aligns with TAL's comprehensive Data Risk Management Framework and Policy. You'll ensure high data quality, integrity, availability, completeness, consistency, privacy, and compliance by enforcing data rules.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and assessing access rights to reports periodically
  • Attending Data Governance Forums
  • Handling Data Steward resourcing
  • Overseeing Data Governance reporting
  • Ensuring data governance aligns with data risk and records
  • Collaborating with SMEs to define and publish Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
  • Conducting CDE reviews
  • Documenting data lineage for critical data
  • Performing risk and control assessments to identify data risks
  • Owning and remediating control gaps
  • Establishing data quality requirements and rules
  • Handling data incidents, issues, and remediation
  • Providing requirements for data impacting projects and initiatives

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience in driving data enhancement initiatives
  • Knowledge of life insurance or financial industries
  • Claims data experience is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with database/warehouse concepts
  • Advanced conceptual thinking and system interdependency identification
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong influencing and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a dynamic environment
  • 5 to 7 years of large-scale data management experience
  • 5 years of analysis experience with stakeholder engagement mandatory
