Climate Resilience Analyst (Junior)

Key Responsibilities

As a Climate Resilience Analyst, you will:

  • Interpret and draw succinct conclusions from data collection and analysis to develop reports, briefings, presentations, fact sheets, and other outreach tools for various audiences on climate resilience-related topics.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python and R, and visualization software such as Tableau, Plotly, ArcGIS, PowerBi, Qlik, or Adobe Creative Cloud to collect, compile, analyze, and visualize complex data sets to evaluate and track climate resilience projects.
  • Use GIS data, the DoD’s Climate Assessment Tool, and other climate risk and land use planning tools to support climate resilience projects near military bases.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate client missions with open-source, authoritative climate data and develop innovative technical solutions to support environmental policy initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Experience with regulations and policy analysis related to environmental, climate change and resilience, energy, conservation, and land development or use that impacts military operations.
  • Proficiency in Python or R programming languages, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, GeoPandas, Tidyverse, ggplot2, or sf.
  • Experience with visualization software such as Tableau, Plotly, ArcGIS, PowerBi, Qlik, or Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Knowledge of encroachment, land use management, and installation resilience related to military operations.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and adapt to new subject areas quickly.
  • Strong independent and team working capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Environmental Policy, Public Policy, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, Urban Planning, or Sustainability.

Additional Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of experience working in the DoD.
  • Experience with Cloud environments, Git version control, Jira, or AWS services.
  • Knowledge of DoD’s Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program, Army Compatible Use Buffer (ACUB) Program, Air Force Mission Sustainment, or similar encroachment management programs.
  • Experience with Endangered Species Act regulatory requirements for terrestrial wildlife.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint or other graphics software to create and manipulate sophisticated presentation graphics.
