Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) is a core division providing essential IT, financial, and HR solutions to all departments within the Hydro group. Role Purpose
As a Cloud Data Engineer, you will:
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure batch and streaming analytics pipelines.
- Develop comprehensive data platforms and enterprise data lake solutions.
- Participate in the product development lifecycle, from initial PoCs to deploying and integrating modern BI and analytics solutions into production environments.
- Collaborate as a technical expert with business process owners, product managers, DevOps, machine learning engineers, and infrastructure engineers to achieve business goals.
- Serve as an advocate for data product developers, influencing service offerings and data product strategies in partnership with the cloud platform team and other cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and orchestrate complex data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Design, implement, and optimize data transformation processes with Python libraries (Pandas, Numpy, PySpark).
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot scalable data workflows on Databricks.
- Utilize Azure Data Explorer (ADX) for real-time data analysis and complex queries.
- Create and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
- Automate routine data tasks using Automation Runbooks and Azure Functions.
- Design and manage scalable data storage solutions using Azure Data Lake.
- Write and execute unit tests to maintain data integrity and quality.
- Leverage CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps for seamless integration and deployment.
- Optimize Azure usage to effectively manage and reduce costs.
Candidate Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar discipline.
- Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate or a similar certification (preferred).
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Expertise in using Azure Data Factory.
- Proven experience in data transformation with Python.
- Advanced SQL skills and query optimization knowledge.
- Understanding of Azure Data Explorer (ADX) for data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and GitHub.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates) is a plus.
