We’re looking to hire a Cloud Database Administrator for our Managed Services team.

This can be a remote position (must be located in the United States).

Position Summary

As a Cloud Database Administrator for our Cloud Managed Services group, you will be a motivated individual with a passion for cloud technology who loves solving problems. You will work with major public clouds, utilizing automation and employing your technical skills to operate state-of-the-art Cloud Service Providers (CSPs). This role directly supports leading cloud software companies to ensure the seamless reliability and scalability of their SaaS products for top-tier enterprises and government agencies globally.

What You'll Do

Become part of a highly collaborative engineering team specializing in Cloud Infrastructure Administration, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Security Operations (SecOps), and Vulnerability Management.
Maintain a resilient, secure, and efficient cloud-hosted platform of cloud-based databases, primarily focused on Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL. This covers database design, configuration, and optimization to meet agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) while supporting the client rollout of new software updates and maintenance updates.
Create and maintain standard operating procedures, operational manuals, technical documents, and troubleshooting guides for various tools, database engines, and client environments.
Configure and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, databases, and tools in support of client environments.
Implement and enforce database security best practices to protect sensitive information. Ensure compliance with industry standards, including FedRAMP, and internal security policies. Advise clients on compliance requirements and how to meet them.
Fulfill systems and database administration tasks in client environments such as: maintaining/provisioning/deprovisioning of databases, user & access management, patching & updating cloud infrastructure systems and databases, ensuring compliance control enforcement using Group Policy on Windows Servers, as well as configuration files on Red Hat systems, implementing & configuring software/tooling updates, and troubleshooting operational issues.
Work across AWS, Azure and GCP, understanding, using, and troubleshooting their native services in client environments.
Develop and maintain database backup and recovery protocols to ensure data integrity and availability in the event of system failures. Conduct regular database recovery exercises with clients to ensure Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) are met.
Develop and maintain scripts and automation to streamline routine database tasks and improve efficiency via automated orchestration and configuration management techniques. Understand the design, deployment, and management of secure and compliant enterprise servers, network infrastructure, databases, boundary protection, and cloud architectures using Infrastructure-as-Code.
Coordinate and collaborate with client product teams, engineering team members, and other stakeholders to monitor and maintain a secure cloud-hosted infrastructure via automation in both production and non-production environments to cater to their database-related needs.
Configure and fine-tune cloud-based tools, manage costs, security, and compliance for the client’s environments.
Respond to environment-specific alerts, and review dashboards via analytics tools such as Splunk and Elastic Stack.
Monitor and resolve site stability and performance issues, as well as database-related issues, to maintain infrastructure and database uptime and availability within client environments. Proactively monitor database performance and implement performance tuning strategies to ensure optimal database performance and responsiveness.
Work closely with clients, and internal stakeholders to provide 24x7x365 support to environments through client ticketing systems.
Participate in on-call rotations, as needed, to support client operational needs outside standard business hours.
Conduct and review System Health Checks on managed technologies, and databases to ensure service health. Implement and manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions for databases on Cloud Infrastructure Platforms to minimize downtime and loss of data.
Conduct testing and data reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of current security and operational measures, and document deviations from current security and operational measures.
Assist in planning and executing database migrations and upgrades as needed.
Participate in interviews and gather artifacts as evidence to demonstrate the security and compliance requirements of clients’ environments.
Present and actively participate alongside engineering teams during compliance assessments and reviews evaluating client environments against compliance frameworks.
Author, maintain, and peer review detailed design and process documentation; including vendor best practices, standard operating procedures, and compliance frameworks, with comprehensive database-related documentation on configurations, processes, and procedures.
Maintain and create detailed diagrams representative of the client’s cloud architecture.
Keep up-to-date with emerging database technologies, best practices, and trends on both Cloud Infrastructure Platforms, and Database Engines, as well as compliance frameworks like FedRAMP, to continuously improve database systems

What You'll Bring

A BS or above in a related Information Technology field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
3+ years of experience in 24x7x365 production operations
3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a significant focus on Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based databases.
