Google’s Professional Services team is looking for a skilled Cloud Database Migration Engineer to guide our clients in transforming their database infrastructure by migrating transactional systems to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This full-time role is designed for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment and are passionate about using cloud technology to solve complex data migration challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of coding experience in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience with data infrastructure, performing exploratory queries and scripts, and designing data pipelines.
  • Extensive knowledge in dimensional data modeling for both synchronous and asynchronous system integration, using tools like Flume, DataFlow, and Spark.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cloud databases such as RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Cloud SQL, and Bigtable, among others.
  • Proven ability to develop ELT or ETL workflows.
  • Deep understanding of data migration strategies and experience moving large-scale systems to cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting SQL performance issues and optimizing queries.
  • Knowledge of Long-Lasting Memory Systems (LLMs), Vector embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Expertise in Disaster Recovery (DR) and high availability strategies.

About the Role

As a Cloud Database Migration Engineer, you will:

  • Act as a trusted adviser, helping clients with the end-to-end migration process to GCP.
  • Assess and analyze both on-premises and cloud database environments to recommend optimal performance design and deployment on GCP.
  • Develop technical workshops, best practice guides, blog posts, and tutorials tailored to a variety of business and technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to enhance Google’s products continuously.
  • Travel up to 30% for client meetings, technical reviews, and onsite implementation activities.

Salary & Benefits

For this position, the salary range is $118,000 to $174,000, depending on location and experience. The compensation package also includes bonuses, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
