Key Job Responsibilities

As a Cloud Engineer, expect to resolve customer queries through various channels such as telephone, email, and web/live chat. Utilize your advanced troubleshooting skills to deliver custom solutions and analyze the root cause of issues deeply. You will also:

  • Mentor new hires and develop training material.
  • Collaborate with development teams on complex issues and initiatives to deflect contacts.
  • Engage in recruitment, tool/script writing, or collaborate with leadership on process and strategic improvements.

Special Focus Area: Big Data/ET, AWS Services like Glue, Athena, and MWAA

In our 'BigData/ETL' team, you'll focus primarily on services including AWS Glue, Athena, and Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (MWAA), addressing high-impact technical challenges and crafting solutions.

A Day in the Life of a Cloud Engineer

Your day at AWS will be dynamic and fulfilling as you:

  • Leverage cutting-edge technologies in data processing.
  • Work closely with global engineering teams.
  • Provide critical input to improve AWS services based on support experiences.
  • Create technical content like tutorials and how-to videos to guide the developer community.

This role requires availability for a non-standard work week (Tue-Sat or Sun-Thu) without night shifts or on-call duties as part of a global team.

Job Locations

Candidates may choose to work out of Melbourne, VIC, AUS, or Sydney, NSW, AUS.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with ETL processes and creating pipelines.
  • Intermediate scripting skills in Java or Python; other languages considered.
  • Strong grasp of Linux and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
  • Proactive learner eager to pick up new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in CS, engineering, analytics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in ETL tools like Talend and Informatica.
  • Advanced SQL skills and familiarity with big data technologies such as Spark and Hive.
  • Previous experience in customer service roles and with AWS technologies is advantageous.
