Job Title: Computational Biologist - Tooling Team

The Team You'll Join

You'll be an integral part of our data science organization, an interdisciplinary group driven by machine learning and inference-based discovery of drug programs from fundamental principles. Initially, you will lead a team comprised of approximately six computational biologists and engineers, with potential growth in the future. You will work closely with computational biologists spanning various therapeutic areas, primarily oncology, and collaborate with data scientists on the core build teams. This collaborative environment will provide a robust network for feedback and support, aiding in setting timelines, refining ideas, automating repetitive workflows, and more.

Extensive collaboration with data scientists, chemists, engineers, commercial strategists, and biologists across the organization will be essential to advancing milestones and providing insights to enhance Recursion's capabilities. A bold, execution-first attitude and a passion for deploying rigorous science to bring life-changing therapies to patients are crucial attributes for this role.

The Experience You'll Need

  • PhD in a relevant field (computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, quantitative pharmacology, cancer/cell biology, etc.) with experience in applying professional competencies to fundamental problems in oncology or drug discovery
  • Experience applying computational methods (including probabilistic, statistical, and/or machine learning techniques) to analyze complex biological and/or human clinical data
  • Bold, execution-first attitude and a passion for deploying rigorous science to bring life-changing therapies to patients
  • Fluency and experience working with high-level programming languages for complex data analysis (Python strongly preferred)
  • Experience working on highly collaborative cross-functional teams
  • General understanding of small molecule drug discovery and pharmacology
  • Experience in efficiently advancing drug program projects from proof of concept to preclinical. Industry oncology drug discovery experience preferred
  • Ability to clearly explain computational analyses and methodologies to cross-functional and non-technical teams
  • Exceptional data visualization skills through the creation of plots, documentation, and presentations
