About the Role

As a Computer Vision Engineer in our XR-Tech division, you will be involved in groundbreaking research and development of machine perception technologies. This role will challenge you to bridge the gap between virtual and real worlds, potentially impacting billions of users worldwide through our diverse range of AR/VR products including Oculus, Meta Glasses, and our vast family of apps like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Your contribution will be crucial in shaping future VR/AR/MR experiences from conceptualization to product integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced computer vision and machine learning algorithms focusing on areas such as mapping, scene reconstruction, object tracking, and semantic segmentation.
  • Prototype future VR/AR/MR experiences, leading their development into robust product solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Reality Labs and Facebook AI Research (FAIR) to enhance AR/VR product development.
  • Lead cutting-edge research in computer vision applicable to our AR/VR initiatives.
  • Define and direct projects for fellow engineers, guiding them towards impactful solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, or Machine Learning.
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing Computer Vision and/or Machine Learning technologies, specifically in 3D reconstruction and mapping.
  • Proficient in engineering with C++ and/or Python.
  • Experience in at least one relevant specialization within Computer Vision or Machine Learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or Robotics.
  • Proven industry experience in real-time SLAM, 3D reconstruction, or similar projects.
  • Experience in developing technologies for edge devices like mobile phones or custom hardware.
  • Strong publication record in top-tier conferences such as SIGGRAPH, CVPR, or NIPS.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation package for this role includes a competitive base salary ranging from $146,994 to $208,000 per year, plus bonuses, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Final salary will be determined based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
