Main Responsibilities
- Lead the project team to meet project-specific requirements, including controls, application modes, and grid integration.
- Integrate the Fluence BESS control system into Transmission System Operator (TSO) EMS systems, developing logic and control schemes for seamless operation.
- Collaborate with field engineers to address issues during system commissioning and testing.
- Support product development engineering for utility-scale energy storage solutions, focusing on controls applications.
- Develop standardized test procedures and participate in FAT/SAT tests to minimize commissioning time.
- Maintain documentation of controls infrastructure, including hardware, applications, protocols, and communication links.
- Stay current with company products, developments, and projects relevant to the controls network at both site and enterprise levels.
- Strictly adhere to change control procedures and documentation.
- Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and technologies to provide world-class controls services.
- Support company strategy and provide necessary reporting to leadership.
- Develop performance management and feedback mechanisms for current controls technical support KPIs.
- Execute tasks related to Fluence's safety KPIs.
- Travel throughout EMEA as required.
Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer/industrial engineering with a focus on automation and controls (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in controls/software/programming within the power utility or related industry.
- Extensive knowledge in the electricity transmission/distribution sector and EMS systems, including grid code analysis and algorithm development.
- Proficient in SCADA protocols such as IEC60870-5-101/103/104, IEC 61850 MMS, DNP3, Modbus & TCP/IP, PLC, RTUs, SEL, Siemens Relays & Meters, SCADA Gateways, and Data Concentrators.
- Experience with Linux-based systems, Python, shell/bash scripting, and Github.
- Nice to have, but not mandatory: Experience with MathWorks Simulink, C/C++, and high-voltage electrical equipment.
- Solution-oriented mindset and strong communication skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of German or other languages is a plus.
