Google Cloud Security Data Science Research team is on the lookout for a Cybersecurity Data Scientist. Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in cybersecurity or fraud detection.
• 3 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, including coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases, or statistical analysis. A PhD degree is also acceptable.
• Experience in Machine Learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow or PyTorch).

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in the mentioned fields and skills, or a PhD degree.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders across various projects to identify and clarify business or product questions.
• Provide feedback to translate and refine business questions into tractable analyses, evaluation metrics, or mathematical models.
• Utilize custom data infrastructure or existing data models as needed, applying specialized knowledge.
• Design and evaluate mathematical models to solve defined problems with limited precedent.
• Gather information regarding business goals, priorities, and organizational context, along with existing and forthcoming data infrastructure.
• Collect, extract, and compile data from various sources using relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Ensure the quality of data through formatting, re-structuring, and validation.
• Review and prepare datasets for analysis.
• Explore future research intersections between cybersecurity and machine learning.

Compensation and Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $127,000-$187,000 plus bonuses, equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The displayed range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by the work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
