Job Description

The ISO unit of Verisk is recruiting Insurance Data Analysts to assist our large team of actuaries and data analytics specialists. These professionals will develop ground-breaking analytic products based on our one-of-a-kind database of over 21 billion records that stretch beyond twenty lines of insurance.

You will have a direct part in formulating new processes to produce a broad range of ISO’s analytic solutions, including: prospective loss costs and rating factors advisory services, analysis underlying our loss costs development (like distributions by peril, classification, or geographic area), actuarial projection of ultimate claims, trends influencing premiums and claims analysis, analytical data management (smart data quality analytics included), data aggregations for US state insurance regulators, and analytical research and development.

A successful Insurance Data Analyst will have outstanding technical and mathematical skills for data manipulation and analysis. However, the most essential characteristic is curiosity about data, and the ability to not only manipulate data but also comprehend and preserve its business value.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, adjust and initiate computer programs to extract, modify and summarize data, to be used as input for analysis and reports.
  • Support strategic initiatives related to cloud computing, aiding in code, data and processes migration, and reconciling results against pre-existing procedures.
  • Apprehend and take responsibility for our business procedures, suggesting improvements in data management, error detection, quality control, process automation, or analytic techniques. Create clear and easily understandable reports. Present your analyses, ideas, process and results to internal manager and colleagues. Communicate effectively with clients and insurance regulators.
  • Contribute to a strong collaborative culture. Participate in peer-review with teammates on a routine basis for learning, teaching, and ultimately delivering high-quality results.

Understand:

  • The structure of insurance datasets.
  • The US P&C insurance industry including coverages, components of rating variables, etc.
  • Basic actuarial concepts.
  • Develop knowledge of Verisk Analytics’ business practices, products, and data sources.
  • Stay up-to-date on big data techniques and become familiar with state-of-the-art tools.
  • Contribute to the creation of detailed project plans to ensure projects are completed on time.

Qualifications

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Graduate or Bachelor's degree with a major in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Risk Management, Operational Research, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient MS Excel user (experience with utilizing VBA for task automation is desirable but not mandatory).
  • Moderate Python knowledge is obligatory.
  • Basic understanding of SQL.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Interest in expanding knowledge in data analysis, automation and process improvement fields.
  • Availability to work in a hybrid model in the Cracow office.
  • Robust verbal and written communication, listening and teamwork skills, and effective summarization skills.
  • Detail-oriented technical aptitude with strong logical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
