Grade: 16
Purpose
Manage site data governance and contribute to regional and group data engineering teams, driving our vision of analytics-driven mining. Provide expertise in building and deploying databases, ensuring their high performance, security, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee database solutions, designing, and enhancing systems.
- Define database structure, security, backup, and recovery specifications.
- Design, develop, deploy, and support enterprise data platforms using Microsoft Azure Services.
- Create and enforce effective data management policies for accuracy and legitimacy.
- Maintain database performance across the technical environment.
- Design, develop, and review real-time/bulk data pipelines from various sources.
- Perform data transformation and normalization for analytics, modelling, and reporting.
- Implement data quality checks and monitoring mechanisms.
- Develop documentation of Data Lineage and Data Dictionaries.
- Apply best practices in Data Ops, ensuring robust code and database management.
- Provide thought leadership in problem solving and engage in R&D initiatives.
- Utilize modern cloud technologies and DevOps/DataOps best practices.
- Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI and Python.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or analytical fields (Statistics, Mathematics, etc.). A Master’s or PhD is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in related fields.
- Expertise in SQL and Python development with high-quality production codebases.
- Knowledge in object-oriented programming languages like C#.
- Familiarity with data engineering, software engineering, and machine learning systems architecture.
- Experience in applying best practices in data engineering projects.
- Data science experience, including model selection, training, validation, and deployment at scale.
- Working knowledge of Azure Stream Architectures, DBT, Schema Change tools, and Azure Machine Learning Environment.
- Experience with Distributed Parallel Processing Environments like Spark or Snowflake.
- Proficiency in Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
- Proficiency in CI/CD and automation tools like Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
- Experience with containerization tools like Docker.
- Membership in ICTAZ or EIZ.
