Job Description Summary

As a Data Engineer within our robust PayPal Credit team, specifically the Credit Platform Team, you will handle complex data challenges. This includes managing high-performance data loads from diverse sources internal to PayPal and from our external partners. The data managed supports a range of critical functions including analytics, credit model building, financial reporting, and transaction processing.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily challenges will include:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable data pipelines.
  • Implementing automated processes for data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Troubleshooting data issues, diagnosing root causes, and providing timely resolutions to support our data architecture.
  • Staying abreayed of emerging trends in data engineering, recommending, and integrating technological innovations to facilitate scalability and growth.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in database development, ETL processes, and software development.
  • Proficient in SQL, Python scripting, and familiar with data processing libraries like PySpark and Pandas.
  • Experience with data warehousing tools such as AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake, and knowledge in optimizing large-scale data processing.
  • Skilled in data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization.
  • Broad experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting.
