Data Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Data Team and help leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies implement and sustain innovative scientific R&D technology internationally. In your role of facilitating R&D digital transformation, you'll design and develop data pipelines using the most up-to-date big data, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and AI/ML tools. You'll collaborate with talented data scientists at Zifo to assist our clients in creating their future data landscapes. Responsibilities: - Evaluate business needs and objectives - Analyze and organize raw data - Build/Assess FAIR strategy/maturity model, data models, ETL pipelines - Conduct data analysis, identify patterns, and present findings - Construct algorithms, models, and visualization Dashboards - Offer consultant inputs to create guidelines & supply design concepts - Investigate, assess & offer recommendations on Technology platforms, standards, and best practices - Aid customers in estimating, planning, and prioritizing data engineering projects - Provide guidance and oversight for project teams - Cultivate relationships with the customer, internal, and vendor leadership teams - Aid in the growth and development of Zifo's US Data Science business function Required Skills: - Strong programming abilities - Solid database knowledge and query language skills (SQL, PL/SQL, NOSQL) - Experience with Scientific Informatics solutions - Background in Chemistry or Biology Science - Experience in the Life Sciences Industry - Understanding of Machine Learning concepts - Understanding of Cloud Architecture & ML Ops - Experience in any Data-focused solutions such as Snowflake, Databricks, PySpark, Cloudera, Knime, Airflow - Data Engineer certification from a cloud platform like Azure/AWS - Curiosity to learn and enthusiasm to lead the forefront in driving evolution in Scientific Informatics - A passion for guaranteeing new and existing customers have an extraordinary experience interacting with Zifo. - Ability to convey complex information in simple terms to internal, partner, and customer stakeholders with various levels of technical knowledge. - Confidence and effectiveness in communicating across teams, management levels, and with customers both in writing and verbally. Qualifications: - Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, R, Julia, Scala - Technical expertise in ETL/ELT, Data modeling, Data wrangling, Data Integrations, Visualization, and Data Governance - Experience in constructing and administering data pipeline platforms, big data solutions, relational and graph databases, data lakes, and cloud services - Experience in legacy data warehouse modernization and data migration - Experience in CI/CD DevOps process - Understanding in how to architect enterprise data science infrastructure and deploy ML models - Understanding of Data Cataloging, Data Storage, Data Engineering, Knowledge Graphs, Distributed Computing - Familiarity with up and coming commercial and open-source technologies and solutions - Basic understanding of Mathematical concepts, Statistical techniques - Skilled in Problem-Solving, Analytical Thinking, and Decision Making in real-time A successful Zifo staff member is: - Independent, Self-Motivated & Results Oriented - Willing & Capable of swiftly acquiring new technical skills and business principles - A critical thinker who has logical reasoning - Curious and consistently seeking creative solutions to complex problems About Zifo: Curiosity Driven, Science Focused, Employee Built.
