Role Overview: Data Engineer in Affiliate Commerce Team
As a Data Engineer, you will design scalable, reliable, maintainable, and extensible systems to ingest data from diverse sources, generate insights, and integrate these with our products. Your role is crucial in delivering a new and meaningful product that supports the open web.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain existing data pipelines and develop new ones to integrate data from various external and internal sources using APIs, Airbyte, and data lakes.
- Design and refine data systems and infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines and databases to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for data systems and pipelines.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide regular updates on pipeline developments.
- Build and optimize data transformation pipelines using dbt and Airflow (Cosmos), ensuring high-quality, single-source-of-truth reporting.
- Independently manage significant technical tasks while collaborating closely with software engineers and technical teams on data requirements and integration strategies.
- Develop scalable, efficient, and maintainable data pipelines using advanced technologies.
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (specifically Lambda, Kinesis Firehose, and S3), Snowflake, and dbt.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for custom scripting and data manipulation.
- Experience with Snowpark or familiarity with Spark DataFrames.
- Proficient in working with various types of APIs, including REST and GraphQL.
- Attention to maintaining high data quality across diverse sources and complex transformations.
- Ability to work independently and drive projects forward while effectively collaborating with team members.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques for data processing and predictive analytics.
- Experience with real-time data processing tools and methodologies.
- Background in building and maintaining data warehouses and data lakes.

Our compensation package for this role ranges from $130,000 to $160,000 annually, with the potential for additional incentive compensation. The final offer will depend on factors like experience, location, and skills.
