We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team at Collins Aerospace. In this position, you'll design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure using cutting-edge technologies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve our data platform and capabilities.

Note: This role can be performed at any Collins domestic location or remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines for ingesting data from various sources (e.g., databases, APIs, streaming platforms).
  • Deploy and manage data solutions on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Databricks).
  • Develop real-time data processing solutions with sensor data, telemetry streams, and IoT devices (e.g., Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, Azure Event Hubs).
  • Support data ingestion, text extraction, chunking, and vector embedding tasks, collaborating closely with AI/ML Engineers.
  • Develop in Python and SQL, utilizing relevant IDEs for coding, debugging, and testing applications (e.g., PyCharm, Jupyter Notebooks, Visual Studio Code).

Education & Experience:

Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience. In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen or a US Green card holder.
  • 5+ years of experience in a data engineering role, with proficiency in data pipeline design, implementation, and optimization.
  • Experience with large-scale datasets, complex data architectures, and unstructured data.
  • Proficiency in relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy, Haystack, LangChain).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Understanding of cloud-based data lake and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, AWS S3, Azure Data Lake).
  • Knowledge of cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure capabilities (e.g., AWS Cloud Formation, SAM, Azure Resource Manager).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud migration, deployment, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience in a cross-functional agile team.
