Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to enhance and optimize our data pipeline architecture, ensuring efficient data flow and robust analytical insights. This role involves designing data models, supporting data analytics, and optimizing data platform operations inclusive of access controls, performance tuning, and automation. You will develop and implement standard procedures aligning with organizational goals, conduct data extractions, and provide detailed reports and analysis as requested. Additionally, responsibilities include configuring Azure Cloud environments and maintaining routine data processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and configure data warehouses encompassing dental and medical claims, practice management systems, electronic health records, and various structured and unstructured health data.
- Solid understanding of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse development methodologies.
- Proficiency with tools/platforms like Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage Account, Azure DevOps, Azure Storage Explorer, Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Experience in data ingestion from diverse third-party sources.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures ensuring compliance with licensing, legal, and ethical standards.
- Recommend best practices for management, monitoring, and optimization of data pipelines and data stores.
- Process and analyze data extracts from management systems such as Dentrix, EagleSoft, Curve Dental, EPIC, Ace Dental.
- Prepare routine and ad hoc data extractions, reports, and analysis summaries.
- Research and design Electronic Data Interchange processes.
- Serve as a technical resource within the department.
- Lead technical implementation projects and handle associated application development tasks.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related IT field.
- 1-3 years of related technical and business experience.
- 1-3 years’ experience with SQL programming.
- 1-2 years’ experience with cloud database technologies like Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Databricks, or Snowflake.
- Proficiency in relational databases (preferably SQL Server) and one or more data science programs (Python or R).
Preferred:
- Experience with medical or dental claims data, EHRs, and/or dental practice management software.
- Proficiency with data analytics/reporting tools like PowerBI and Tableau.
- Hands-on expertise in building complex ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, Python, Azure data services, and Snowflake.
- Experience in implementing security and compliance requirements and employing different data modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing data warehouse methodologies.
Physical Demands
The role requires effective communication, manual dexterity, and sitting for extended periods using a personal computer. The position necessitates occasional travel within and outside serviced facilities, working primarily in a private or shared office setting.
