The Directorate of Corporate Services and Operations (COR) manages UNIDO’s human, financial, and material resources, ensuring the capacity to fulfill our mandate. This includes overseeing IT and digital services aimed at enhancing organizational efficiency through innovative digital technologies.

Project Context

The Information Technology and Digitalization Services (COR/DIG) is integral to achieving UNIDO's objectives by providing secure, effective, and efficient IT services. This involves managing web, digital, and business solutions, cybersecurity, end-user support, knowledge management, and data-driven analytics.

Functional Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will drive digital transformation by leveraging innovative technologies to enhance business processes and organizational efficiency. Your responsibilities include:

• Backend Development and Data Systems Integration: Design scalable backend services and APIs for data processing and integration.
• Data Pipeline Architecture: Build and maintain robust data pipelines for real-time and batch processing.
• DevOps/MLOps Practices: Implement CI/CD practices for data-driven applications and manage machine learning models.
• Data Governance and Quality Control: Establish frameworks for data quality, consistency, and security.
• Infrastructure and Cloud Management: Manage data infrastructure deployment in cloud environments.
• Collaboration and Strategic Advisory: Align data engineering initiatives with organizational goals.
• Continuous Learning and Innovation: Stay updated with trends in data engineering and AI/ML technologies.

Minimum Organizational Requirements

Education: Advanced degree in IT, business administration, digital technologies, or related fields is required. PMP certification is desirable.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience in backend development and data engineering, proficiency in programming languages like Java and Python, and experience with data pipelines, data governance, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud services. Familiarity with DevOps, MLOps, frontend technologies, data visualization tools, and AI/ML concepts is desirable.

Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.
