Data Engineer (15-month Contract) - Vancouver, Canada

Position Summary

The Data Engineer will swiftly acquire business domain knowledge to effectively build and support Seapeak’s data systems. In collaboration with our systems architects, data engineers, and analysts, you will deliver substantial business value through the development of data products. This role offers opportunities for professional growth, including exposure to big data and AI solutions.

Major Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Digital and Analytics team to optimize data systems and pipeline architecture.
  • Develop business analytics solutions utilizing common development practices.
  • Design, develop, document, and support analytic models, reports, dashboards, and ETL/ELT processes.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • 2-3 years of experience developing data warehouses and analytical products within an analytics team.
  • Proven ability to build processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
  • Strong data modeling skills (relational, dimensional, and flattened).
  • Advanced SQL knowledge, along with experience in Python and/or PySpark.
  • Experience in an operational role supporting data platforms and business intelligence solutions.
  • Skilled in performing root cause analysis on data and processes to address specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong solution design capabilities.
  • Experience with data integration from various sources (API, Databases, files, etc.).
  • Proficiency with platforms such as Data Factory, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI.
  • Experience with tools and technologies like Data Bricks, Azure Data Lake, DevOps Repos/Pipelines is an asset.
  • Ability to build and optimize 'big data' pipelines, architectures, and datasets for machine learning and analytics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage projects and collaborate with cross-functional global teams.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel and possession of a valid passport.
