Job Description

What you’ll do

As a data engineer, you play a central role in ensuring the availability and reliability of our data infrastructure. You build, monitor, and manage the entire data ecosystem, including pipelines, databases, and more. Automation is a crucial part of your job, as you are tasked with automating the deployment of our data infrastructure, making processes more efficient and scalable.

Aside from infrastructure, you will also aid in translating client and product requirements into functional designs for data systems and environments. You will convert these requirements into actionable solutions, ensuring that data systems are in line with the unique demands of the project.

Collaboration is essential, as you’ll steer the technical aspects of a project together with the tech team and developers. Your expertise is critical in making data-driven decisions and ensuring that data is effectively employed to achieve success in projects and products.

Qualifications

This is what you get from us

  • An opportunity to be part of an outstanding international team.
  • A flexible work environment; at our expanding office in Rijswijk and from home.
  • The opportunity to learn, excel in your profession and grow. We will support your education and development with an annual budget, and you’ll have ample freedom for your own ideas and initiative.
  • We provide lunch, and on Fridays, we have food from one of our favorite local eateries delivered to the office.
  • We cover your travel expenses, and we offer a bike plan.
  • After investing considerable effort, we want to ensure you can relax too. If you work a 40-hour week, you’ll have 24 vacation days, and we will offer you the chance to work remotely for 2 weeks every year.
  • We've got your retirement savings sorted too, and Helin covers half of the contribution.

Who are you?

Honestly, we don't even need to define this role for you. You live it and breathe it. What resonates with our team is someone who’s autonomous, detail-oriented, organized, and a reliable sounding board. You have extensive knowledge of data engineering principles and techniques such as SQL (NoSQL is a plus), Python, and Big Data technologies (Apache Spark, Confluent Kafka). Moreover, you distinguish yourself with your problem-solving ability and analytical skills. Technical skills aside, you are resourceful, curious, and always eager to learn. You might not know something (yet), but when needed, you'll figure it out swiftly.

Additionally, you:

  • Have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in a data engineering role or equivalent.
  • Are a resident of The Netherlands and possess a permanent work permit (we do not sponsor visas or relocations).
  • Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Robotics or Automation Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent.
  • Have exceptional English communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex information to both expert and non-expert stakeholders.
  • It would be a plus if you're familiar with Docker, Azure and Linux and have experience in a rapidly growing scale-up international environment.
