What We're Looking For
We need a creative individual with strong software development and communication skills. The successful candidate will be adept with a variety of tools and technologies, have a background in object-oriented design, and familiarity with database technologies.
This role will involve a hybrid work arrangement, with an expectation to work in our Hartford, CT office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-quality, scalable data assets that support contemporary BI tools and advanced analytics.
- Implement top-tier data visualization and reporting solutions utilizing modern BI tools.
- Prototype innovative solutions by leveraging new technologies to meet changing business needs (e.g., AWS Cloud).
- Migrate on-prem databases and data warehouses to Cloud (AWS).
- Consult with functional management on short and long-term business requirements, recommending future innovations.
- Provide technical consulting, leadership, and implement new information technologies.
- Review and implement disaster recovery plans ensuring uninterrupted systems operation.
- Work closely with product owners to evaluate stakeholder features and provide input on effort and feasibility.
- Formulate and implement efficient, cost-effective application program solutions.
- Analyze existing system and programming logic for greater machine efficiency or identifying difficulties.
Qualifications
Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The Hartford will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Required skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s in computer science or a related discipline with at least 4 years of experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
- 3+ years of experience in ETL, Data Integration, or Cloud (AWS) Technologies.
- Development experience with .NET, C#, or C++ preferred.
- Experience designing and integrating quality data assets for BI tools like Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and PowerBI.
- Hands-on experience with the Snowflake cloud data platform and related utilities.
- Proficient in programming languages like Java, Python, Scala, Hive, R, Spark etc.
- Knowledge of data processing tools such as Erwin modeling, Big Data, Oracle, Talend, and more.
- Experience in financial/insurance domain data warehousing.
- Proficiency in handling semi-structured data (XML, JSON).
- Familiarity with agile Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
- Excellent business communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment, and management skills.
- Preference for AWS Technologies certification.
Compensation
The annual base pay range for this role is $97,600 - $146,400. Actual base pay will depend on factors including performance and proficiency. The base pay is part of The Hartford’s comprehensive compensation package, which also includes bonuses, incentives, and recognition programs.
