Position: Data Engineer II, Database Administrator (SQL/AWS DBA)

As a Data Engineer II within our Corporate Investment Banking Team, you will be part of an agile team dedicated to enhancing, designing, and delivering innovative data solutions. You will work on the full spectrum of data collection, storage, access, and analytics, ensuring these solutions are secure, stable, and scalable. This role offers an opportunity to develop your skills and experience as you grow within your job.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer-facing databases to ensure 24x7x365 uptime and meet our internal SLA of 99.99% with on-call responsibilities.
  • Set up and configure Amazon RDS database instances.
  • Identify optimization opportunities within customer-facing databases.
  • Manage capacity and plan database resources efficiently.
  • Organize, update, and maintain gathered data to make it actionable.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of data system components to ensure secure data access.
  • Make custom configuration changes in selected tools to generate products as requested by business or customers.
  • Update logical or physical data models based on new use cases with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Formal training or certification in SQL database administration and AWS Cloud services with 2+ years of applied experience.
  • Proficiency in configuring resource usage of CPU, memory, and storage.
  • Expertise in tuning SQL execution plans and data access patterns.
  • Experience across the database lifecycle, including back-up, recovery, and archiving strategies.
  • Basic knowledge of the data lifecycle and data management functions.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and determining appropriate tools for analysis.
  • Basic understanding of data system components to implement necessary controls.
