Responsibilities of a Data Engineer, Infra Strategy

As a Data Engineer specializing in Infra Strategy at Meta, you will:

• Design, build, and launch data pipelines to move data across systems. Develop next-generation data tools to generate business insights for our products.
• Analyze user needs and software requirements, ensuring support for end users in data usage.
• Create software and data solutions that aid product and business teams in making data-driven decisions.
• Influence strategy and roadmap for efficient data solutions and scalable data warehouse plans.
• Design, develop, test, and launch new data models and processes into production, with ongoing support.
• Utilize both custom and off-the-shelf ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools and frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with data infrastructure, product, and engineering teams to enhance cross-platform ETL and report generation frameworks.
• Identify and resolve data infrastructure issues.

Minimum Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, followed by five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in computer-related occupations.
• At least 24 months of experience in the following areas:
  • Data ETL design, implementation, and maintenance on a large scale
  • Programming in Python, Perl, Java, or PHP
  • Internet technologies: HTTP, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
  • Writing SQL statements
  • Analyzing large volumes of data to provide data-driven insights
  • Data warehousing architecture and plans
  • ETL tools like Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, dimensional data modeling, or schema design
  • Map Reduce or MPP systems
  • LAMP stack development
  • Hadoop, HBase, or Hive
