Job Description

As a segment of the international Operations & Technology organization, the D&A team focuses on data and analytics strategies for the future. We support NBCU’s vast range of brands - from broadcast, cable, news, and sports networks to film studios, world-famous theme parks, and a varied set of digital properties. We proudly provide our business divisions with the necessary data to guide and shape strategic business decisions regarding our content.

We're seeking a passionate problem solver who’s eager to build the next wave of data pipelines and applications. Working across one or several of our main subject areas – research, marketing, engineering frameworks – the Data Engineer role would suit you if you’re a hands-on coder who can develop and purify large datasets to reveal actionable insights.

Furthermore, you’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders, data engineers, visualization experts, data scientists, and other technologists across the business.   • Cooperate with business leaders, engineers, and product managers to understand data needs.
  • Collaborate with other tech teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using cloud-native data engineering principles
  • Design, create, and scale data pipelines across numerous source systems and streams (internal, third-party, and cloud-based), distributed/elastic environments, and subsequent applications and/or self-service solutions
  • Identify, design, and implement improvements to internal procedures: automatizing manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Implement suitable design patterns while enhancing performance, cost, security, scale, and end-user experience
  • Participate and take the lead in development sprints, demos, and retrospectives, as well as release and deployment
  • Establish and maintain relationships with supportive IT teams to effectively deliver work products to production

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a data engineering or related role
  • Direct experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT development principles, or data warehousing concepts
  • Understanding of data management basics and data storage principles
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehouse platforms (AWS RedShift, GCP BigQuery, Snowflake or equivalent
  • Experience in building data pipelines using Python/SQL
  • Demonstratable experience in Airflow or similar orchestration engines
  • Experience in adopting CI/CD principles and processes to data engineering solutions.
  • General comprehension of cloud data engineering design patterns and use cases
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or a quantitative field.
