The Metering Platform creates data processing pipelines that measure our customers' usage across all Datadog products, offering crucial insights to a diverse range of users and internal stakeholders. The team pioneers every new product we launch at Datadog. As a Data Engineer you will utilize Python and Spark to create highly dependable, verifiably accurate batch data processing pipelines for a high-scale mission-critical process. Every day, we process trillions of data points and petabytes of data to facilitate pivotal decision-making processes for Datadog and our users. What You’ll Do: - Design, build, and operate our high-volume data pipelines that power the Metering Platform - Collaborate cross-functionally across Engineering, Product, and Analytics to address their data and product requirements - Operate across the data stack, transitioning seamlessly between programming languages: Scala, Python, SQL, and more - Construct tooling and automation to operate our infrastructure with minimal human intervention - Participate in the Data Engineering community at Datadog and help establish and dictate standards and systems that enable sustainable and organic growth - Own significant parts of our processing infrastructure, have an impact, grow with the company Who You Are: - You hold a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent professional experience - Substantial backend programming experience in one or more languages (Python, Go, Scala, Java, SQL) - Experience in writing data pipelines using a distributed data framework (Spark, Trino, Hive, Snowflake, etc.) - Familiar with working with workflow management tools (Luigi, Airflow, Temporal, or Dagster, etc.) - Skilled in handling large amounts of data and enjoy exploring new data sets - A person who values code simplicity and performance - Interested in working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment that respects its engineers and customers Datadog appreciates people from all walks of life. The estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $130,000 - $300,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
