We're currently seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our offshore team in Ghana. This is a permanent, remote role, allowing you to work from home while contributing to significant projects globally.

Your New Role

As a Data Engineer at bigspark, you will:

• Develop and maintain scalable, extensible, and highly available data pipelines on diverse datasets to power critical applications.
• Collaborate with a dynamic team possessing skills in Python, Java, Scala, and more.
• Engage directly with stakeholders and program management to capture and understand client requirements.
• Employ predefined architectural components to create and agree upon viable design solutions.
• Deliver high-quality software development services to our clients, collaborating with global team members.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should have:

• A BSc (Hons) degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or Mathematics.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in a commercial software environment.
• Proficient in Data Modelling, DWH, Lakes, ETL, ELT, Virtualisation & Streaming.
• Experience with big data stacks including Hadoop, Spark, Hive/Impala, Kafka, and Snowflake.
• Knowledge of storage formats such as Avro, Parquet, ORC.
• A strong background in object-oriented programming languages like Python, C#, Java, or Scala.
• Capability with database integrations (SQL/NoSQL) and processing large-scale data.
• Familiarity with source control management, preferably GitHub, and an understanding of CI tools like Jenkins.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
