Data Engineer (Python Developer) Opportunity at ARA
Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is on the lookout for a skilled Data Engineer to enhance our team in the Intelligence Community. This is an excellent opportunity for those who thrive in designing and implementing data solutions using Python and AWS cloud technologies. As a core part of our team, you will tackle the challenges of developing robust data pipelines and contributing to our mission of solving complex problems in varying disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement effective software solutions using Python aligned with industry best practices.
- Write clean, maintainable code with ample documentation.
- Ensure software quality by employing advanced unit testing frameworks.
- Develop and manage data pipelines integrating various AWS services like Flask, S3, EC2, and Lambda.
- Analyze and convert stakeholder data requirements into actionable technical specifications.
- Automate data processing tasks to enhance workflow efficiencies.
- Address and resolve challenges related to data pipelines.
- Facilitate data access in collaboration with data scientists and analysts.
- Remain informed on the latest advancements in data engineering technologies.
Required Qualifications:
- US Citizenship and an active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Python Development. Alternatively, 8-10 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and coding, as well as experience with SQL and complex query formulations.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Capable of operating both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Experience:
- Expertise in Python web frameworks such as Django or Flask.
- Familiarity with web development concepts including HTTP and REST APIs.
