Job Description: Data Engineer
Captivation Software is in search of a talented Data Engineer who will be integral to the acquisition and management of mission-critical data sets. You will collaborate closely with our expert team to design and implement data solutions tailored to the unique needs of our military clients. Whether you are a developer, analyst, or engineer, your experience and expertise are valuable to us. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles, accompanied by hands-on experience with large and complex data sets. This is a hybrid role, requiring on-site work with some flexibility for remote work.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data models and schema designs that support our analytics needs.
- Monitor and optimize the performance and scalability of our data infrastructure.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes to ensure high-quality code and system reliability.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and analytics.
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve client objectives.
Requirements
Security Clearance
Must have a current Secret level security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a developer, analyst, or engineer with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree; or a High School Diploma with 9 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java.
- Skilled in acquiring and understanding network data and its associated metadata.
- Experience in data extraction, translation, and loading, including data preparation and labeling for analytics.
- Experience with Kibana and Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with various log formats like JSON, XML, and others.
- Hands-on experience with data flow, management, and storage solutions such as Kafka, NiFi, AWS S3, and SQS.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for technical problems and dataflow issues.
- Expertise in ETL, data modeling, and schema design.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule with local team members.
- DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NOSQL databases like Accumulo.
- Prior experience in supporting cyber and/or network security operations within a large enterprise, as an analyst, engineer, architect, or developer.

- Annual Salary: $130,000 - $270,000 (Depends on Years of Experience)
