About the Role

As a Data Engineer within our newly formed Investments Data Team, you will play a critical role in enhancing our data capabilities. This position involves developing robust data pipelines and supporting datasets to meet diverse business needs. You'll have the unique opportunity to work with an established team while also autonomously building new capabilities for our Investments Function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Snowflake, Talend, DBT, GitLab, AWS S3, and Redshift.
  • Manage and maintain the Investment team’s Snowflake environments, providing support to BAU teams, and troubleshoot data issues proactively.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Data Architects, and Power BI Developers to design appropriate data integration patterns, data marts, and modelling techniques.
  • Migrate and transform large datasets from diverse sources to support analysis and actionable insights.
  • Ensure high data quality and integrity within investment datasets (IBOR, ABOR, PBOR, etc.), adhering to best practices in data governance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on investment data, offering guidance and support to various stakeholders.
  • Maintain high-quality data engineering and coding standards.
  • Manage the production platform and address issues as they arise.
  • Work with the Head of Investments IT and relevant project leads to prioritize and plan workloads.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives to enhance the firm’s data capabilities and foster innovation.

About You

  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar data engineering role.
  • Hands-on expertise in Snowflake, Talend, DBT, AWS S3, AWS Redshift, and visualization tools like Power BI.
  • Skilled in SQL and familiar with programming/scripting languages such as Python, VBA, or Java.
  • Experience with MS Power Platform (Power Apps) and Atlan is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of ETL/ELT design, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience with source control tools like Git and CI/CD practices.
  • Proven ability to meet delivery commitments in a run and delivery-focused environment.
  • Strong understanding of data management and data governance best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of relational and big data architectures, data integration, data modeling, and data analysis techniques.
  • Good understanding of investment data, financial markets, and investment strategies.
  • Passionate about technology, process improvement, and innovative working methods.
  • Interest in Advanced Analytics, AI, ML, and LLMs in data warehousing.
  • Experience in superannuation or asset management is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Agile environment experience is preferred but not mandatory.
