Position Overview:
Blue Orange Digital is actively seeking a skilled Data Engineer to enhance our data engineering practice. This role demands a diverse skill set, including system administration, DevOps, infrastructure automation, data modeling, and workflow orchestration. We develop comprehensive data platforms and systems for various clients, so proficiency in modern data technologies is essential. The ideal candidate will be versed in multiple data engineering technologies and environments, particularly with Azure DevOps, Databricks, and Python.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with data teams to design, build, and deploy cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and automate their operations.
- Utilize Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Terraform, CloudFormation, and other automation tools to construct robust systems.
- Develop high-performance data pipelines using Databricks, Spark, Python, and other data orchestration/ETL tools.
- Provide leadership in software development best practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automated testing.
- Support heterogeneous technology environments, including both Windows and Linux systems.
- Create reusable, automated processes and custom tools.
- Perform other duties as directed by your manager.
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience building and supporting data platforms.
- Exposure to data technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Airflow, Spark, etc.
- Experience with Cloud Data Platforms, including Snowflake and Databricks.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and Bash scripting.
- Experience in designing and building robust CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong Linux system administration skills.
- Comfortable with Docker, configuration management, and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
- Experience working in cloud environments, particularly Azure and AWS.
- A collaborative approach to architecture and design sharing.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Sound judgment, good humor, and fairness in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Azure DevOps, Azure Data Fundamentals, Databricks, Snowflake.

Salary:
USD $4850 - $5250 (monthly salary range)
