Role: Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer at Tekmetric, you'll be integral to designing, implementing, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and revenue, to ensure data accuracy and accessibility. Your skills will drive the optimization of data flow and storage, allowing us to extract actionable insights and drive innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build scalable data pipelines using Python, Spark, and Airflow to move data from different applications into our data lake.
  • Define and implement long-term technology strategies and innovation roadmaps across data engineering areas.
  • Provide hands-on technical and execution leadership for the data engineering team.
  • Work with various cross-functional teams to maintain the integrity of our data warehouse and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with upstream engineering groups to enhance data generation methods.
  • Work with data recipients across Tekmetric to understand usage trends and develop user-friendly data models.
  • Contribute to shared data engineering tooling and standards.
  • Establish and promote data engineering best practices across the company.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience focusing on data.
  • Expertise in SQL and one or more programming languages (ideally Python, Java, or Scala).
  • Experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Airflow).
  • Proficiency in data modeling, data architecture design, and ETL pipelines.
  • Experience with batching and streaming data infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, etc.).
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments.
  • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Hybrid work model for candidates local to the Arlington, VA area.
