Data Engineer Opportunity at Hydro Global Business Services

Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Extrusion Data Cloud (EDC). Your expertise in Snowflake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Python will be vital for this role. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of data engineering principles and the ability to excel in a dynamic, global manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy the EDC, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to interpret business requirements and provide technical solutions within the Snowflake platform.
- Offer technical support to the data platform team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Promote best practices in data engineering, including data modeling, ETL processes, data integration, and data governance.
- Oversee the management and optimization of Snowflake resources, including warehouses, databases, and pipelines.
- Act as a Snowflake subject matter expert, keeping up-to-date with the latest features, tools, and techniques to enhance the data platform.
- Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and procedures for the EDC.
- Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, resolve technical challenges, and ensure the timely delivery of solutions.
- Manage priorities and deadlines effectively in a high-pressure environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in data engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Fluent English communication skills are essential.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Snowflake, including data modeling, SQL scripting, and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, preferably with Azure experience.
- Proven track record in leading and delivering complex data platform projects in a global enterprise setting.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry or a similar highly regulated environment is a plus.
- Snowflake certification(s) is a strong advantage.
