Position Overview

We are looking for a hands-on, proactive, and solution-driven Data Engineer with excellent communication skills to join our dynamic and collaborative team. This is a full-time position based remotely for 3 days and in London for 2 days per week. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Microsoft SQL and ETL practices, capable of working in a fast-paced, agile environment, ideally with experience gained within an MGA (Managing General Agent) or insurance carrier.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering data solutions and changes for DUAL.
  • Building data solutions to address evolving requirements and managing new requests and incidents.
  • Addressing complex data issues and supporting problems as needed.
  • Consulting with business analysts, developers, and system owners to minimize customizations.
  • Assessing the impact of changes on the DUAL data model to prevent potential operational issues.
  • Collaborating with system owners to maintain data integrity during system integrations and reporting.
  • Working closely with Power BI and reporting analysts to ensure accurate data representation in dashboards and reports.
  • Building knowledge and expertise on DUAL systems within the data team.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including Underwriting, Operations, Finance, Risk & Compliance, and HR teams.

Key Requirements

  • Extensive SQL and ETL knowledge.
  • Experience with Insurance MI or reporting.
  • Expertise in MS-SQL Server, TSQL, SSIS, SSRS, VBA, Power BI, Advanced Excel, Power Pivot, and Power Query.
  • Ability to work efficiently and methodically.
  • Strong team player with confident communication skills.
  • Proactively sharing best practices across the organization.
  • Ability to listen to colleagues’ views while confidently challenging when necessary.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and prioritizing skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in an insurance MGA or carrier environment.
  • Good understanding of Insurance Operations, Credit Control, and Finance.
  • Broad knowledge of insurance principles, regulations, products, and services.
