What is a Data Engineer at Gozem?

Our Data Engineer bridges our backend IT function and the global analytics team, delivering essential data solutions to meet business needs.

Your tasks:

• Manage the data pipeline (collection, storage, access), engineering (cleaning, feature creation/selection), and understanding (documentation, exploration) of data;
• Acquire, create, and manage innovative data assets from various sources;
• Evaluate requests for analytics and reporting solutions to assess their feasibility, time requirements, and compatibility with current systems and architectural standards;
• Participate actively in the development of the data lake, data marts, and subsequent enhancements, including creating new data solutions to advance analytic capabilities;
• Engage with stakeholders about data availability and report format to ensure reporting delivers necessary insights without compromising accuracy.

You are the perfect fit for this role if you have...

• Strong data profiling skills and hands-on experience with infrastructure, including Cloud Computing, Linux OS, Docker, RDBMS and NoSQL Databases;
• Experience working in a structured environment with a desire for good documentation, exceptional delivery, efficient organization, and high-quality communication;
• Experience with large-scale data processing systems, implementing ETL, and processing pipelines for the transformation and processing of structured and unstructured data.

You have

• An educational background - preferably Master's degree (although not compulsory) in Computer Science or Big Data Engineering;
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in related fields;
• Self-motivation, an ability to learn independently, and a willingness to share knowledge with team members;
• Required skills: Familiarity with big data engineering tools such as Spark, Kafka, Google cloud, etc.;
• Additional skills: Knowledge of any programming language (Python preferred);
• Tools to master: Asana, G-Suite;
• Language proficiency: French and English;
• Location: On-site or remote;
• Predicted qualities: Self-motivation, independent learning, enthusiasm in sharing knowledge with team members, meticulous attention to detail, and efficient time management in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Interview process:

• An initial meeting with the recruitment manager (15 minutes);
• A written interview questionnaire;
• A 45-minute analytic exercise;
• A business case to be completed within 8 days;
• A presentation of your business case to the head of the Data team (future supervisor) and a discussion about your professional experience, followed by a referral request (you provide us with 4 professional contacts to whom we'll send a questionnaire);
• A final validation interview with one of our co-founders.
