As a pivotal member of our Data Engineering team, you will guide a group of skilled Data Engineers, ML Engineers, and Data Scientists. We aim to develop cutting-edge data products that are integral to the functionalities of our app. The ideal candidate will possess exemplary leadership abilities, a keen interest in data, substantial background in computer sanitization, and a passion for professional sports and digital gaming.
- Lead daily operations within the data engineering team, setting strategic goals and providing mentorship.
- Collaborate with product management and other engineering groups to develop new data science solutions from ideation to execution.
- Oversee and prioritize multiple cross-functional data projects from start to finish.
- Drive recruitment efforts across the product and engineering teams.
- Establish, track, and achieve Service Level Objectives (SLOs) in conjunction with team members.
- Stay abreast of new trends and technologies in data engineering to continuously improve our practices and processes.
- Profound grounding in computer science, especially in data structures, distributed systems, and software/system design.
- At least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role in data, with a total of 8+ years in software development.
- Proven experience managing a team of three or more engineers.
- Exceptional project management, time management, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage various stakeholders.
- Extensive knowledge of Python, Java, Go, or Elixir, and experience with large datasets and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Kafka, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, preferably in Machine Learning projects.
