Your Role

Over four years ago, Nordstrom revolutionized its data and analytics approach to a real-time, event-streaming-centric platform. We aspire to progress to NAP Platform 2.0, focusing on pillars such as Data Democratization, Data Integrity, Data Sharing, and Decision Automation to empower agility and better business decisions.

The Data Engineering Manager will lead the Transportation squad, developing near real-time streaming pipelines that turn into essential metrics and KPIs for tactical and strategic decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end delivery of data insights from ingestion to presentation.
  • Foster a collaborative culture embodying industry best practices and Nordstrom values.
  • Grow and develop a team of talented and motivated engineers.
  • Influence architecture and implementation decisions for scalable and reliable solutions.
  • Maintain data quality and governance.
  • Drive innovation in solution design, system operation, and engineer support.

Your Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience including 2+ years of team leadership
  • Proven experience operating business-critical systems
  • Development expertise and advocating for new technologies
  • Strong people management and development skills
  • Pragmatic, proactive, and evidence-based decision-making mindset
  • Experience with machine learning and data science concepts
  • Expertise in AWS/GCP, Kafka, Java, Spark, Kubernetes, Python, Avro, data modeling, and SQL.

Compensation and Benefits

Washington: $141,000 - $258,000 annually

This position may qualify for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Nordstrom offers comprehensive benefits including:
