Purpose

Data Engineers at ScotiaTech are responsible for developing ETL jobs that process information for businesses within the Bank and its partners. Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, SQL Server programming, and ETL tools like SSIS is required. Expertise in data processes such as aggregating, cleansing, enrichment, and optimization while adhering to security and CAB standards is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion a customer-focused culture to build deeper client relationships.
• Resolve complex, multi-faceted problems and provide system solution recommendations.
• Offer global business support, manage new and existing portfolios, and contribute to system enhancements.
• Drive continuous process improvement and technology adoption.
• Provide L1/L2/L3 support for ETL processes using SSIS, DataStage, and PLSQL.
• Coordinate with multiple teams to resolve data quality issues and infrastructure updates.
• Document issues, solutions, root causes, and findings for future reference.
• Utilize development techniques such as debugging, testing, and version control.
• Ensure compliance with Scotiabank’s Values and operating principles.
• Contribute to a high-performance and inclusive work environment.

Team Collaboration

Collaborate within the Global HR Technology teams and with businesses across the Bank and its partners.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in technology or engineering.
• 2+ years of solid TSQL programming experience.
• 2 years of experience in ETL tools such as SSIS.
• Optional: 2 years of Azure Data Factory pipeline development experience.
• Knowledge of MS Azure technologies and Cloud solutions.
• Understanding of modern Datahub and Data warehousing concepts.
• Extensive knowledge of ETL standards concerning data security and runtime process optimization.
• Result-oriented with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and motivation.
• Adaptable, curious about new technologies, an efficient team player, and capable of working under pressure.
