Job Description

Aviva is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Specialist to join our team on a permanent basis. Responsibilities

As a Data Engineering Specialist, you will lead a team within the Solutions Team in IWR, focusing on technology enablement and the introduction of new technologies into our tech stack. Your role will involve:

• Managing a team of 4 engineers
• Introducing and implementing new data technologies
• Overseeing projects involving cloud data solutions (preferably AWS)
• Working with distributed frameworks like Apache Spark and modern OLAP platforms such as Snowflake

Skills and Experience

We are looking for candidates with:

• In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS preferred, including EMR-FS, Glue Data Catalog, S3, SQS, Lambda)
• Experience with modern OLAP solutions (e.g., Snowflake) and lake house implementations on AWS
• Hands-on experience with streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Kinesis) and no SQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB)
• Proven experience with Python, Spark, Snowpark, and Snowsql
• Familiarity with scheduling tools like Apache Airflow or AWS managed MWAA
• Proven leadership skills and experience in team management, ideally within the financial services sector
