The Role: Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

As a Data Engineer, you will work from various locations across the U.S. (HQ: Chicago, IL). Your primary responsibilities include:

• Building end-to-end data pipelines to curate and enhance data sets.
• Locating and analyzing source data, and creating data flows for ingestion.
• Defining and building data cleansing and imputation processes.
• Mapping data to a common model and transforming it to meet business rules and statistical requirements.
• Validating data content and producing software components for client demands.
• Assisting in automated testing and orchestration for production operations.

Technical Environment:

Our ideal candidate should be proficient in:

• Programming with Python, Spark, and Scala
• Using open-source big data tools (Hive, Spark, Kafka)
• Working within the AWS ecosystem (Amazon EMR, S3, Presto)
• Scheduling and monitoring big data ETL pipelines using Airflow
• Data profiling and validation using SQL
• Unix commands and scripting
• Hadoop fundamentals and architecture (HDFS, MapReduce, job performance)

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have:

• A Master's degree in Data Science or a related quantitative field.
• At least 2 years of experience in data analytics and data flows.
