Are you a Big Data Cloud specialist? Do you have a knack for designing, supporting, and developing Big Data solutions? Aviva Services Excellence Centre is seeking a Data Engineer/Senior Data Engineer who can bring technical expertise and commercial awareness to our team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer at Aviva, you will:

  • Implement ETL processes using Big Data technologies ensuring coherence, efficiency, and support for our data architecture strategy.
  • Collaborate with analysis and design teams to propose solutions that meet business needs, working closely with lead development designers.
  • Manage or support the delivery of technical solutions aligned with high-level designs, utilizing both waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Proactively identify and plan improvements required within existing Big Data solutions, ensuring efficient delivery with Delivery Managers, Solution Designers, and Application Leads.
  • Monitor and enhance the performance of ETL jobs as needed.
  • Work with business and technical experts to determine solutions for complex low-level requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in data engineering, data modelling, data processing, solution development, or related fields like data science and Java development.
  • Proficiency with technologies such as Python, Scala, and Java.
  • Experience with Cloud tools, particularly AWS, and frameworks like Hadoop and Spark.
  • Skills in data pipeline development, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with both IT and business stakeholders.
  • Good organizational skills and self-motivation.
  • The ability to assimilate technical and business information, translating them into practical solutions.
  • The ability to positively challenge existing and proposed solutions, presenting designs and ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with software solution development lifecycles.
