Job Description
The Data Governance (DG) Engineer at Vericast is passionate about data governance, privacy, and compliance. This role involves enabling a company-wide data governance program, improving processes for managing and protecting sensitive data, and ensuring adherence to data policies and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, the DG Engineer will enhance data governance frameworks and collaborate with data stewards to optimize data use, management, and protection.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish scalable data governance capabilities, including building standards, creating data definitions and policies, and training stakeholders (20%).
- Manage the data governance program, involving data profiling, enforcing data quality rules, and cataloging data to maintain proper data lineage (20%).
- Develop and maintain enterprise data asset inventories, including data dictionaries, metadata, and data lineage information (15%).
- Expand data governance across various data stewards to ensure consistent processes and outcomes (10%).
- Collaborate with security, privacy, and compliance teams to align data governance with regulatory and organizational obligations (10%).
- Oversee the implementation and management of data governance platform technologies, such as Collibra (10%).
- Assist business owners in using data assets efficiently while maintaining compliance (5%).
- Manage external data requests, including privacy requests and regulatory inquiries, ensuring legal compliance (5%).
- Lead audits and monitor data usage to identify and address potential issues or breaches (5%).
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Science, Information Management, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis, data governance, or data management.
- Knowledge of industry-standard frameworks for data governance and quality, data architecture, and technology solutions.
- Proficiency in data query and transformation techniques and tools (e.g., SQL).
- Experience with data governance platforms such as Collibra.
Certifications & Licensures
Certification in data management and governance or privacy (e.g., DGSP, CDMP, CIPP, CDPSE) is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary: $95,000 - $115,000 (dependent on skill level, cost of living, experience, and responsibilities).
