At Clean Harbors, we are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Data Governance and Management Manager to join our dynamic team and lead the overall development of our data program. This pivotal role will leverage your knowledge of data best practices and expertise in data management to deliver high-quality data that drives strategic initiatives. Your work will be crucial in transforming our data approach, particularly in the realm of Cloud data transformation.
Key Responsibilities
You will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, including business and technology partners, to maximize the value of our commercial data assets. By modernizing our data management and implementing an inspirational data governance program, you will play a key role in shaping our data strategy.
Data Governance Program
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and standards for managing organizational data assets.
- Promote and manage data lineage, capturing end-to-end data flow from enterprise and 3rd party sources into CLH systems and reports.
- Create and enforce data retention policies, defining how long data should be kept and how it should be disposed of.
Data Security and Privacy
- Design and implement data classification policies based on data sensitivity, criticality, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage data security and privacy controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work with domain owners to implement enterprise-level data management and governance policies within Clean Harbors.
- Ensure data compliance with relevant laws and regulations, working across departments to identify and mitigate data quality issues.
- Lead data governance meetings, communicate data standards, and provide training on best practices across the organization.
Team Leadership
- Develop and support a community of CLH Data Stewards with frameworks, operating models, training materials, and scorecards.
- Lead and mentor the Data Management and Governance team, driving key data components including strategy, roadmap, services, and tooling.
Required Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who can bring their expertise and enthusiasm to our team. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in information systems, data analytics, data management, data policy development, or a similar field.
- 10+ years of experience in the IT industry, with 5+ years of experience in leading and building data governance practices.
- In-depth knowledge of data management concepts such as data security, quality, and compliance, as well as data modeling concepts.
- Expertise in data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI, and data management tools like Purview, Collibra, and Atlassian Atlas.
- Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, big data repositories, and Agile project methodologies.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
