About the Firmwide Chief Data Office

The Firmwide Chief Data Office is committed to maximizing the value and impact of data on a global scale within a highly governed framework. This office comprises several key teams dedicated to advancing JPMorgan Chase’s data, analytics, and AI journey, including but not limited to data strategy, data impact optimization, privacy, data governance, transformation, and talent management.

Position Overview: Data Management Director

We are seeking an experienced data and analytics executive to lead and expand our Chief Data Office (CDO) presence in India. The selected candidate will oversee teams responsible for firmwide data strategy, data governance, data risk management, analytics, reporting, and performance monitoring. This dynamic role involves extensive interaction with our firmwide teams, business lines, and corporate functions.

This high-profile position is crucial in advising senior management and executing strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a thought leader with exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage with senior leaders across the business. A robust background in data and analytics is essential.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a 30+ person technical data and analytics team supporting multiple organizations within the Chief Data Office.
  • Support strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution, under senior leadership’s guidance.
  • Assist and communicate with the CDO Leadership Team in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation.
  • Work independently with a high degree of motivation and determination.
  • Collaborate closely with department and support groups (Finance, Tech, Ops, Legal, Compliance, HR, Audit) to achieve business outcomes.
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate business risks that could impact our strategic execution.
  • Provide valuable insights and analysis to the leadership team, enabling data-driven decision-making.

  • Strong leadership, technical proficiency, and interpersonal skills necessary to build robust working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and operate independently without explicit mandates.
  • Sound judgment and capability to handle confidential or sensitive information.
  • A strong background in data, analytics, or product management is crucial.
  • Proficient in creating and executing roadmaps, aligning business operations with strategic organizational goals.
  • Experience in building and growing data and analytics teams and developing talent.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Technical knowledge and expertise in data management, governance, analytics, metrics, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience in strategic or transformational change is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage tight delivery timelines and ensure the achievement of strategic change goals.
  • Demonstrated success in internal partnerships with the ability to influence people at all levels across various job functions.
  • Ability to operate in a highly collaborative and matrixed environment to build consensus.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the management of programs, projects, teams, and employees.
  • Structured thinking and effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to senior audiences confidently.
  • Proficiency in presenting to senior and global business heads with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness and capability to challenge the status quo, think creatively, and solve problems.
