Job Description

As a Cloud Engineer – AWS, you will have the opportunity to work on the Big Data platform team that is tasked with building the software enabling our business colleagues to make decisions swiftly and efficiently. The platform provides an abstraction layer running thousands of big data jobs daily on compute engines like Athena and Spark. We are also introducing Iceberg, a standard industry data storage format for analytics.

Currently, our platform stores over a Petabyte of data.

Simultaneously, we build software that facilitates the transportation of all types of data, making it accessible throughout zooplus and providing options for use cases that call for analytics, operational, or event-driven approaches.

We manage and operate Kubernetes clusters, Kafka, RDS, Jupyterhub, custom-built jobs, and offer a user-friendly web GUI created in Vue.js. We do all this on the AWS cloud, where we also manage Athena, EC2, EKS, Glue, IAM, MSK, S3.

In managing our team, we trust in modern product management strategies, constantly seeking to incorporate trends in technical excellence. Our work methods combine Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), and Lean Software practices. The cross-functional dev team maintains full ownership, from conception to production with a DevOps mindset: if you build it, you run it. You will be part of a cross-functional team where T-learning is promoted, allowing engineers to develop second or third specializations to assist the team in meeting product goals.

All this happens in a secure and trusting environment led by a team that encourages self-organization, empowers problem-solving freedom, and promotes continuous learning and technical excellence. You will join an Agile team aiming for goals alongside other highly experienced engineers possessing a wide range of skills. Your focus will be on operations, infrastructure, automation, and cloud maintenance, but you will also be expected to learn and contribute to the product’s frontend or backend development as required to reach the product's goals.

We are looking for a person specializing in the following areas:

Assisting your team in managing and maintaining our infrastructure in Amazon Web Services

· Helping with the automation of all software development processes, including the entire infrastructure for the data platform in the cloud

· Assisting the team in operating our Kubernetes infrastructure and training them in doing so

· Improving our Jenkins pipelines to maintain a rapid delivery flow to production

· Training your colleagues on infrastructure and cloud so that they can assist with these tasks

· Helping and learning the implementation of backend or front in various languages

· Supporting the product's development and design

· Owning the product from development to production—“you build it, you run it, you own it”

Qualifications

We hope your qualifications for this position include:

· Mandatory bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a Software Development degree

· Fluent in English

· Five years of experience programming in Infrastructure Coding Languages such as Go, Python, or bash, with at least one year in Software Development

· Experienced in administering and managing Kubernetes clusters

· Experienced in cloud administration and orchestration (AWS, Google Cloud or Azure)

· (Desirable) High expertise with Amazon Web Services (EKS, Athena, Aurora, IAM, S3, Glue)

· Familiar with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform

· Familiar with cloud architecture patterns and best practices for designing highly available, scalable, and secure systems

· Excellent communication skills and a sense of ownership, with a systematic problem-solving approach
