Job Description

At Syngenta Canada, as a Data Quality Intern, you will engage in leading-edge innovations to support global farmers in meeting the dual challenge of increasing food production and preserving environmental health. Your responsibilities will include developing data validation rules, conducting quality assessments, and leveraging statistical analysis to pinpoint data anomalies. This role will have you at the forefront of ensuring data integrity and providing strategic data-driven insights to uphold our leadership in agricultural solutions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Forge data validation rules and establish frameworks to monitor data conditions consistently.
  • Apply data profiling and statistical analysis techniques to identify discrepancies in data sets.
  • Regular monitoring and reporting of data quality metrics.
  • Execute routine assessments of data quality and produce detailed exception reports.
  • Assess the business impact of data inconsistencies and recommend enhancements.
  • Analyze data quality cases, identify root causes, and engineer effective resolutions.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for data governance practices and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Adequate educational background in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in utilizing data querying and statistical analysis tools like SQL, R, Python.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis techniques and tools, including MS Excel, Tableau, Salesforce Analytics, and Qlik.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with a keen eye for detail and discrepancy detection.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with an organized approach to tasks.

Working Conditions

This position offers flexible work locations and can be based in Guelph, ON, Calgary, AB, or remotely across Canada.
