About the Role

We are seeking a talented individual to lead a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers, advancing the field of data science at Jungle Scout. Our core product offerings rely on top-tier models and data to deliver insights to our customers. This role involves managing key data science models related to sales estimates and keyword search volumes and leading R&D for new models.

Location: This is a remote-first position, open to candidates in the PST - EST time zones across Canada.

A Day in the Life of a Data Science Manager

  • Meeting with the team to discuss the rollout of a new model
  • Completing exploratory data analysis on a new dataset to enhance sales estimate accuracy
  • Coaching a machine learning engineer on career development
  • Initiating a Slack thread with the data engineering team about a dataset for model training
  • Running sprint planning meetings or retrospectives
  • Providing feedback on recent model training results
  • Sharing updates on upcoming model releases via Slack

Who You Are

Experienced Data Science Manager: You have a proven track record leading Senior Data Scientists and ML Engineers.

Full Model Lifecycle Expertise: You manage the entire model lifecycle, from conceptualization to large-scale production deployment (10m predictions/day).

Technical Proficiency: You are adept at writing SQL queries and building notebooks to analyze data and models.

Collaborative: You excel at working closely with data engineering teams.

Metrics Development & Management: You have experience developing and managing metrics for input data and model performance.

People Developer & Coach: You specialize in developing team members, providing visibility, responsibility, and decision-making opportunities.

Strong Communicator: You deliver clear and timely feedback, manage performance issues, and handle complex conversations with empathy.

Leadership Mindset & Business Acumen: You align team strategies with big-picture goals, leveraging your knowledge of Jungle Scout’s operations and industry trends.

Customer Focus: You are committed to delivering exceptional user experiences, surpassing customer expectations.
