We're actively seeking a Senior Product Data Scientist to join our Consumer GADS (Global Analytics and Data Science) team, focusing on our flagship P2P (Peer to Peer payments) product. This role is pivotal in shaping the strategy of PayPal and Venmo through data-driven insights.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Product Data Scientist within our P2P Analytics team, you will play a crucial role beyond traditional reporting. You will take complete ownership of major initiatives, mine rich datasets for actionable insights, support experimental efforts across the consumer product landscape, and enhance your analytical skills through extensive collaboration across PayPal’s diverse teams. This position also involves managing and possibly mentoring a small team, enhancing both team productivity and project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed analyses of key business dynamics from various angles and synthesize findings into clear, actionable reports for stakeholders.
  • Create visually compelling, user-friendly data presentations to simplify complex information.
  • Develop executive dashboards to monitor business performance and prioritize initiatives.
  • Collaborate with teams across Risk, Product, Marketing, and more to analyze performance trends and root causes.
  • Design and oversee test and control setups for new product launches, ensuring continuous monitoring of performance metrics.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, proactively addressing and anticipating questions from executives.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field like Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in an analytical role, ideally with some team leadership experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Google Cloud's BigQuery.
  • Experience with Python, Tableau, Jupyter Notebooks, Teradata, Hadoop/Hive, and other analytical tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to derive insights from large, complex, multi-dimensional data sets.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of breaking down complex issues into understandable elements.
  • Experience in payments, e-commerce, or financial services is a plus.
