About the Role
We are seeking a Data Scientist for our AI & ML Center of Excellence. This critical role will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering machine learning-based projects. You will handle machine learning (ML) modeling, problem analysis, data exploration, data collection, and integration. Your work will help drive innovation and solve complex challenges.
Your Team
The Data Scientist role is an individual contributor position that reports directly to the Senior Manager or Director of AI & ML. Collaborate with a team dedicated to making impactful business decisions using data-driven insights.
What You Will Do
As a Data Scientist at HARMAN, you will:
- Deliver new solutions or improvements across a range of business scenarios, including automation, customer engagement, supply chain optimization, predictive maintenance, and more.
- Utilize a strong foundation in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java for coding, debugging, and testing.
- Apply an in-depth understanding of linear algebra, calculus, probability theory, and statistics to machine learning algorithms.
- Perform data cleaning, transformation, feature engineering, and normalization to prepare data for ML algorithms.
- Work with various ML algorithms like supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, and deep learning.
- Visualize data using tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Tableau to identify patterns and trends.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Utilize strong problem-solving skills to address issues that arise during development.
- Stay up-to-date with the ever-evolving field of machine learning by learning new concepts, algorithms, and technologies.
- Possess domain knowledge relevant to where the ML model will be applied.
What You Need
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Experience working in diverse environments including cloud, on-premises, and hybrid, multiple operating systems, and containerization techniques like Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Elastic Container Service.
- Proficiency in several programming languages such as R, Python/Jupyter, SAS, Java, Scala, C++, Excel, MATLAB.
- Familiarity with database programming languages including SQL, PL/SQL for relational databases, and NoSQL/Hadoop-oriented databases like MongoDB, Cassandra.
- Experience with distributed data/computing tools such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, and MySQL.
- Expertise in solving vision, text analytics, credit scoring, failure prediction, and propensity to buy problems.
- Knowledge of statistical and data mining techniques, including generalized linear models, random forests, boosting, text mining, hierarchical clustering, deep learning, CNN, RNN, t-SNE, graph analysis.
